Customer called us because he had water coming from around his water heater. Upon inspection we determind that secondary heat exchanger was cracked. The unit was 22 years old and not worth investing a lot of money into repairing.

Mike C, our comfort specialist, went out to go over some options with the homeowner. Once he decided, Pipe Works Services went out and installed a new Lennox 2 stage gas fired furnace with a variable speed blower. A new humidifier was also installed.

Steam boilers have a life expectancy of at least 20 years, but once they are no longer effective it can create some cold homes. This Madison customer needed a replacement and Pipe Works Services was able to replace it with a more energy efficient model.

Furnace replacement

Pipe Works Services received a call from a customer in Mountain Lakes, NJ for a boiler tune-up. This new customer wanted to be prepared for the winter weather, but had a relief valve issue. Pipe Works Services Technician Pedro arrived to the customers home to check the boiler and do the tune-up. When Pedro turned the boiler on with the thermostat, he found the relief valve started to leak, and the cause was due to a faulty pressure reducing valve. The boiler’s pressure was going over 50 psi – which is well over the 30psi max rating. Pedro checked all other controls and pumps, and it is working fine. He replaced the pressure reducing valve and relief valve. The boiler was left operating and ready for the winter!
