Pipe Works Services received a call from a customer in Mountain Lakes, NJ for a boiler tune-up. This new customer wanted to be prepared for the winter weather but had a relief valve issue. Pipe Works Services Technician Pedro arrived at the customer’s home to check the boiler and do the tune-up. When Pedro turned the boiler on with the thermostat, he found the relief valve started to leak, and the cause was due to a faulty pressure-reducing valve. The boiler’s pressure was going over 50 psi – which is well over the 30 psi max rating. Pedro checked all other controls and pumps, and it is working fine. He replaced the pressure-reducing valve and relief valve. The boiler was left operating and ready for the winter!
