Ductless mini-split heating systems have tremendous flexibility and ease of installation. They only require a 3-inch hole in your wall to accommodate the conduit between the outdoor heating unit and the indoor air-handling unit. Mini-split manufacturers provide different lengths of conduit, up to about 50 feet. With this length of conduit, you can heat areas in one part of your house, with the outdoor heating unit located in an inconspicuous area, preserving the appearance of your home. A ductless mini-split heat pump system is up to 30 percent more efficient than forced-air systems, with losses of heat estimated at only 1 to 5 percent.
Their appearance is also more attractive than many traditional heating options. They can be mounted flush with the ceiling, hung from the ceiling, or hung on a wall. Many come with attractive, modern-looking casings that will fit almost any decor. And if the indoor unit is installed somewhere that’s out of easy reach, a remote control makes changing the settings a simple task.
