By using the Energy Star Yardstick, you can discover ways to lower your utility bills and get guidance for home-improvement projects to keep you comfortable all year round. If you have a little time to spare, all you need to do is round up the previous 12 months of utility bills and know the square footage and energy source of your residence, along with the number of occupants in your home. With this information, you can evaluate and analyze how your home uses energy.
This assessment will only apply to other homes in the New Jersey area. Because of the different heating and cooling practices of various climatic regions, this evaluative program measures the energy efficiency of homes in the same area to provide the most valid comparison.
With the Energy Star Yardstick results in hand, you can then use the companion Home Energy Advisor to get suggestions for ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency.
